Bruneau Dunes

I captured this image at the Bruneau Dunes State Park near Mountain Home, Idaho. The dunes are the largest single structure sand dunes in North America. The tallest peaks at 470 ft. above the lake surface. if you look at the far edge of the lake you may be able to see some spots. Those are geese.  There were about 500 walking on the frozen lake. Flocks were landing and taking off on a regular basis. There is a trail that loops around the lake and along the top of the dunes. you can not see them but there are two people walking on the crest of the dune. The trail is just short of 6 miles.

It has been snowing off and on for the last two weeks and I had hoped to capture these images with a generous helping of snow, but two days of warmer weather and most of the snow was gone. I will be back to try again.

This image was captured with my Minolta X-700 and Tamron 28-200 with polarizing filter. The exposure was f 16 @ 1/30 sec.
